Air Force awards small-business contract to Refactr for DevSecOps software automation platform

Seattle-based Refactr has won a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research contract that calls for the Air Force to evaluate the use of the company’s platform to automate software management processes.

  • The Refactr automation platform can serve as a software layer on top of existing automation technologies, to reduce tool and content sprawl when multiple developers are working on a project. That could be a time-saver for Platform One, the Defense Department’s DevSecOps enterprise services team.
  • “We are thrilled to have won this SBIR Phase I contract and excited to have interest in our DevSecOps automation platform,” Refactr co-founder and CEO Michael Fraser said in a news release. “On the same day we were awarded the contract, we were notified we were selected for a Defense Accelerator by Capital Factory and Long Capture.”
  • The award was made through the AFWERX SBIR Program, which supports the development of technologies with potential military applications. AFWERX’s Phase I SBIR contracts are typically in the range of $50,000, with the potential for bigger contracts in follow-up phases.
